I have had Irritable Bowel Syndrome for about 2 years now, ever since I have had my gallbladder removed. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant, but the doctor will not really give me many answers about medication and things. “We will cross that bridge when it comes” he says. I have tried not taking medication and it just does not work! I last about 4 days until I just can’t leave the house without knowing there is a bathroom close by. Any suggestions about how to help the symptoms during a pregnancy? Is Imodium and/or Kayopectate safe to take during a pregnancy?

Chosen Answer:

I’ve had IBS for more years than I can remember. Librium was the only prescription med that helped a little and the over the counter Immodium worked great. However, Librium can’t be taken while pregnant but Immodium can be. Since I’ve been pregnant, the IBS has come back full force. It had subsided somewhat before that but I guess it’s just something I’ll have to deal with. I’m not sure about the kaeopectate. Good luck!
